"I think I'm in love." he blurted. He turned away from Nellie, and folding his arms against his chest. He didn't want to wait for her response. But he had to. He had to get it out.

Nellie got up slowly. "You-you mean with Zoe, right?" She whispered, coming over to his side.

Georgie did't answer. How did she even know?! But no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't deny it. It was sad. Perhaps he had always been intimidated of her, but always found her attractive.

"Er...I mean, why don't you tell the girl, Georgie?" She quickly corrected herself. Dammit, Zoe was going to kill her if she found out.

"She doesn't feel the same way, I'm sure of it. She's so perfect. And I am a complete idiot!" Georgie said, and looked at Nellie. "I don't even know how to tell her."

Nellie sighed. "Look. She's going to kill me for letting this slip, but she does like you. I can see it." She said a little quieter, "As to telling her...just be honest. I know it's hard."

Georgie whipped around, his jaw dropping in belief. "She does?!" he asked. His heart started beating triple it's usual speed, and his palms started to sweat. His breathing shortened, and he could have sworn his legs turned to jelly. "How do I tell her?!" he pleaded, kneeling in front of the dancer. He was willing to listen to any suggestions she had for him.

Nellie pulled him up. "I don't know, exactly, just take it slow." She said, and finished stretching herself out.

"Should.... should I sing to her?" He asked, giving Nellie a look.

"Oh, I think that'd be great, Georgie." she said, and a smile grew on her face. Hunter was over on stage left, trying to tune his instrument--it was not obliging. "Oh dammit! C'mon, you stupid-" he muttered, and a string of obscenities followed.

"What should I sing?" he asked, and walked over to Hunter, taking his sax from him. "Dude. Calm down." he said, and tuned it for him, relieving some of his own tension.

Nellie followed Georgie over, and laughed as Hunter made a face at his friend. "Sorry...I'm just getting nervous." He explained. "We all are." Nellie said gently.

"Should I sing something she wouldn't expect? Should I be blunt? Or hint at it?" he asked Nellie, handing Hunter his sax back. He paced the floor, something he hadn't done in years. He usually did it when stressed. But he hadn't had this type of aniexty yet, and it was much worse than any other burst of nervous pacing than he'd ever had.

"Just do whatever you think is right. I'm sure she'd appreciate any thing special." She said. She was just about to turn to Hunter when she whipped around, "Dedicate the song to her today!" she squealed.

"Dedicate it? How?! Just come right out and say it? B-but I can't do that! She would leave!" he argued. His hands started shaking on their own, his nerves getting the best of him.

"Oh C'mon, she wouldn't." Nellie said. M-maybe you should bring her aside, right before you come on stage and tell her." Nellie said, looking at Hunter for support, although he didn't have a clue what was happening. "Georgie's trying to win over Zoe." She whispered. "'bout time." was Hunter's quiet response, his head turned toward her so Georgie couldn't see or hear. Nellie giggled. Her nerves were a little hyper-active as well.

"No. I can't! Maybe I shouldn't tell her. I would just end up making an ass of myself." Georgie replied, and sighed. Packing up his things, he walked out the door. He had to think of a song in his repituoir that would mean anything to Zoe.

Nellie sighed as she and Hunter watched Georgie leave. She turned to him, "You really nervous?" She asked. "That's an understatement." He said as he sat on the wooden bench against the wall. After a moment, she sat next to him. "You're not the one who has to do leaps, and land on these things." She said, pointing to her pointe shoes, laughing. "You'll do great, you know."

Tucker watched as Zoe was pratically pulling her hair out. She was slightly hyperventalating, and she was pacing so bad he feared she would make a dent in the floor. Suddenly, he jumped up. Wait! He knew where he could find sticks! "Zoe! We need to find Georgie! He has a key to the storage closet! You can find sticks in there!" he chimed, and grabbed his sister's hand. She was dragged along to the boys room, who opened the door sweaty and out of breath. He looked at Zoe, and she felt a chill go up her spine. "Hey, Zoe lost her sticks last night. Can you give us the key to the storage closet to get her a pair?" Tucker asked. Zoe shot a look at Georgie, who shot back the same look. He disappeared for a few seconds later, and handed Tucker the keys. "Have fun rummaging through all the shit." he said, and shut the door in their faces.

Hunter saw Nellie bouncing her leg up and down, and without thinking, grabbed it with the hand closest to her. "Stop, Nel." He said softly, and realized where his hand was, exactly, he slowly started to retract it. Nellie smiled a little.

Tucker and Zoe were tearing the room apart. Random music sheets were all over the place, guitar strings, drum heads, and piano keys littered the floor. Yet there were no sticks to be found. At least, not yet, but Zoe was slowly panicking again. "Tucker!" she yelled, and he dug through a box of music sheets faster. Then, suddenly, he looked up, and right on the top shelf. There they were. Beautiful, new sticks.

"I hope Georgie's alright." Nellie said. "He'll be fine. Like you said, we're all nervous." Hunter reassured her. Because Hunter didn't know what happened last night to Georgie and Zoe, Nellie couldn't really mention the drum stick thing. She bit her tongue as she thought about what would happen if Zoe didn't find a replacement.

Tucker's knees wobbled as Zoe sat on his shoulders, trying to reach the sticks on the top shelf. She kept squirming, and he didn't have the most stable balance. "Hurry up Zoe! My competition is in an hour!" he cried, just as Zoe's hand wrapped around the sticks. They were old, and very battered, but they were useful.

"It's getting late. Lets go find them." She said, and stood up. Hunter followed her into the hallway.

People, along with Nellie and Hunter filed into the auditorium. The singing competition was always the most looked forward to. It was the creme de la creme, and noone wanted to miss it. Snagging a seat at the front, Zoe saved seats for all her friends, ready to cheer on Tucker ( and secretly for Georgie). She felt the old sticks in her pocket. They were lucky somehow, she just didn't know it yet.

Nellie found her, eventually, with Hunter following her. She sat next to Zoe, and Hunter sat next to Nellie. "Did you find new sticks?" Nellie asked Zoe.

Zoe nodded, and Corrine and Gerard plopped into the seats on her opposite side, waving to the other two. She pulled them out, and the lights darkened. It was almost time. Tucker was before Georgie, and both had to wait for three people to go ahead of them. The first act was horrid, to say the least. He tried to do his own spin on a rap song, turning it into a musical exploration. The second was much better, yet his voice cracked on a high note. The third was also a great preformer, but he sang a Beatles song, which was overrated highly, and was docked points for orignality. Then, it was Tucker's turn.

Nellie grabbed Zoe's hand in excitement. They all knew that Tucker was a great performer, and were excited to see his big show.

He walked out on stage and bowed dramatically. He smiled, listening to the cat calls that resulted. He grabbed the Microphone, and cleared his throat. "Tonight's the night, we'll make history..." his voice floated over the audience, captivating everyone. His voice was light, and seductive, his hands reaching out to the audience. He eyed the front row, and chose his singing point.

Nellie smiled, watching him. He was really impressive. She looked over at Hunter, he was grinning from ear to ear, and was leaning forward in his chair in anticipation.
